Treasurer-Tax Collector

Welcome to the Trinity County Treasurer-Tax Collector Webpage.

The Treasurer-Tax Collector is elected for a four-year term and has two primary responsibilities. As the Tax Collector he or she is responsible for collecting taxes on all secured and unsecured property, and collection of transient occupancy taxes. As Treasurer, he or she is responsible for cash management, safeguarding county funds, providing full accountability, maintaining an effective cash flow, and investing idle funds.

Mission Statement

The Trinity County Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office is committed to fulfilling our legal obligation to collect and protect the vital revenues of local government; to listen and be responsive to our valued customers and employees; and to create an environment which promotes efficiency and competence while delivering the highest quality of service.

Overview of Treasurer Duties

The Treasurer provides general banking services for all county departments, county schools, and special districts. Disburses funds by paying county warrants, electronic payments, and electronic payroll. The Treasurer manages the county investment portfolio while following a safe investment policy and maximizing the county's return on investments.

Overview of Tax Collector Duties

Revenue and Taxation Codes treat each type of tax and fee individually. For that reason, the Tax Collector must handle current and delinquent taxes as separate functions.
