Appearance Procedure and Information Civil Limited (Dept CX105)

UPDATE – June 14, 2022

In-person services are available in the Civil Clerk’s Office Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  1. Filings: All Civil Limited filings shall be submitted via eFiling through an approved eFiling Service Provider with the exception of filings by self-represented litigants. Self-represented litigants may submit filings in person at the Central Justice Center, via electronic filing, or by US Mail at 700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana, CA 92701.

  2. Questions: Specific questions can be submitted via the “Ask a Question” button on the court’s website.

  3. Self Help Services: Self Help assistance may be available for specific civil filings. The public is encouraged to consult Self Help Services prior to filing documents. To contact Self Help, visit www.occourts.org/self-help and select "Click Here to Contact Self Help Services".

  4. Appearance Procedure:

    • All trials and Default Prove Ups in Civil Limited cases (including hearings involving live
    testimony, etc.) will be set for in-person appearance unless the court orders otherwise on
    the court’s own motion or the motion of a party for remote proceedings. A party may file
    opposition to a motion seeking a remote trial or evidentiary hearing.
    • Remote appearances will be offered for all ex parte applications, law and motion, status
    conferences, and other non-evidentiary proceedings in Civil Limited cases.
    • Unless ordered otherwise by the court, remote appearances for Civil Limited case will be
    conducted via Zoom through the court’s online check-in process available through the court’s
    website at www.occourts.org/media-relations/civil.html.
    • In the event a party, witness, official reporter, official reporter pro tempore, court
    interpreter, or other court personnel experiences technology or audibility issues that arise
    during a remote conference, hearing, proceeding, or trial, the person is to call (657) 622-
