UNITED STATES BANKRUPTCY COURT 1 NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA 2 3 4 In re ASSIGNMENT OF BANKRUPTCY CASES Amended General Order 47 5 FILED IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF Effective: August 14, 2026 6 CALIFORNIA 7 8 This Order sets forth the assignment of bankruptcy cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.1 The prior version of General Order 47 9 (effective from April 15, 2026) is hereby superseded and modified by this Amended General10 Order 47.11 Effective August 14, 2026, it is ordered that:12 13 1) Subject to the exception stated in paragraph 2 of this Order, all bankruptcy cases filed 14 and venued in the San Francisco Division or in the Santa Rosa Division shall receive a case number applicable to each Division and be randomly assigned to Judge Hannah L. Blumenstiel,15 Judge William J. Lafferty or Judge Dennis Montali.16 2) Bankruptcy cases filed in the Santa Rosa Division and venued in Del Norte County or17 Humboldt County, shall receive a Santa Rosa Division case number and be assigned to Judge18 Lafferty.19 3) All bankruptcy cases filed and venued in the Oakland Division shall receive an Oakland20 Division case number and be randomly assigned to Judge Blumenstiel, Judge Lafferty, Judge21 Montali or Judge Cara Masako Porter. 22 4) Subject to the exception stated in paragraph 5 of this Order, all bankruptcy cases filed23 under Chapter 12, 13 or 15 of the Bankruptcy Code 2 and venued in the San Jose Division, shall24 receive a San Jose Division case number and be assigned to Chief Judge Stephen L. Johnson. 25 26 1 The United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California consists of 15 counties subdivided into 27 four geographic divisions designated as San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Oakland and San Jose. - Bankruptcy cases filed under Chapter 13 of the Bankruptcy Code in the San Jose Division 1 and venued in Monterey County or San Benito County (aka “Salinas”), shall receive a San Jose 2 Division case number and be assigned to Judge Blumenstiel. 3 6) Bankruptcy cases filed under Chapter 7 or Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code 3 and
