§ 6.00.010. Definition.¶
For the purpose of this chapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
"City pound."
The public pound of the county.

§ 6.00.020. Enclosures to be neatly constructed and painted.¶
Any building, pen, other place or structure where animals, fowl, birds or pigeons are kept or maintained shall be neatly constructed, painted in such manner as to conform to the neighborhood and not constitute an unsightly condition.

§ 6.00.030. Sanitary conditions required.¶
Whether or not a special permit is required by the provisions of this chapter, all animals, fowl, pigeons or birds kept or maintained within the city shall be kept and maintained in a sanitary condition, all refuse and manure removed from the premises at least once each calendar week, and all rules and regulations of the Health Department pertaining to sanitary conditions and maintenance of the premises shall be complied with; regardless of whether a permit is required or not, nothing in this chapter shall be construed as allowing a nuisance of any kind or character to be committed.

§ 6.00.040. Hogs or swine prohibited within city.¶
It shall be unlawful to keep or maintain any hog or swine within the city limits.

§ 6.00.050. Wild bird sanctuary.¶
A. The city is hereby designated a bird sanctuary. Signs bearing the legend “BREA IS A WILD BIRD SANCTUARY” may be placed at appropriate locations at or near the city limits at principal entrances to the city.
B. No person shall shoot or otherwise harm any wild birds within the city, and no person shall molest or damage the nest or the eggs of any wild birds within the city. In the event the City Council or the Chief of Police shall determine that any species of bird has become a public nuisance or a menace to health or property, the nuisance may thereupon be abated by the destruction of such birds, their nests and eggs and their breeding grounds and by any other lawful means.

§ 6.00.060. Feeding or making food available to non-domesticated animals prohibited.¶
A. It is unlawful for any person to feed or provide food to any non-domesticated animal. For purposes of this section, "non-domesticated animal" means and refers to non-domesticated mammalian predators including coyotes, racoons, foxes, and opossums, and non-domesticated rodents.
B. It is unlawful for any person to place in any outdoor area any food of any kind for consumption by any non-domesticated animal.
C. This section shall not apply to the feeding of any non-domesticated animal by the owner of such animal provided the animal is being lawfully kept under a valid certificate or permit issued by the State of California Department of Fish and Game.
D. Any person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of an infraction for the first violation, and a misdemeanor for any additional violation occurring within one (1) year of a previous violation. Violations are subject to punishment as provided for in Chapter 1.04 of this code.
